About the ATD Talent Development Capability Model

The CPTD exam is grounded in the ATD Talent Development Capability Model and covers a subset of knowledge and skills, and focuses on the application of knowledge and decision making. 

What is the CPTD Certification?

The CPTD is a professional certification for Talent Development professionals with at least five years of experience. It is broad and measures a professional's knowledge and skill application across the breadth of talent development capabilities.

What is the APTD Certification?

The APTD is a professional certification for Talent Development professionals with at least three years of experience - those who are in the early parts of their careers or whose professional roles and aspirations are focused on foundational areas of this field.

Required Materials

ATD recommends that you purchase the Talent Development Book of Knowledge (TDBok) to prepare for the certification exam. When registering for a certification exam and ordering any materials from ATD, please select the ATD RMC's (or your local chapter's) Chapter Incentive Program code or CHiP code - CH6406. Using our CHiP code will provide the Chapter with a credit from ATD. You can use this code whenever you make a purchase from the ATD Store.
